Edited 3 years agoColored vinyl on SST didn’t come out until SST Superstore opened on Sunset Blvd close to Whiskey Au Go Go in the early 90s. They reissued on colored vinyl to hype the store and bring in customers. Of course having Pat Smear work the counter also helped sell some records.

This record was recorded and mastered really well for vinyl. As a matter of fact, the majority of early SST releases seem like they were recorded and engineered superbly. This release is a sonic powerhouse. Beautiful, crushing guitar tone, smashing drums and a well rounded low end. Crisp separation and a nice, rich analog sound. This is my favorite Trees album and it sounds great on the vinyl format.

My copy is also clear blue vinyl but it comes with a slightly different cover. The band name and album title is printed much smaller just above the second and third chimney. It can be seen here: http://www.pettediscographies.com/screamingtrees.asp
