Limited Edition In The Beginning Series 2
Tracks 2, 3, 5 to 7, 10, 15 originally released in 1983 as "Back & Forth".
Liner notes: This CD is a collection of porta studio 4 track recordings done entirely on cassette tape around the years 1981 - 1984. Most were extracted directly from gross master tapes used as the original master for the first demo tapes of Skinny Puppy so quality at times may be questionable?! Songs at times may annoy you. The Equipment was primitive and most of the songs featured cover of the first ever demo versions in their roughest forms. This CD is dedicated to our fans who have been persistant enough to have this released. It answers a lot questions about what the very beginning was all about from the entire Back and Forth cassette to some live recordings of our first live shows as well as some stuff we found while looking. A great example of early skinny puppy. If you like Bites and Remission era of puppy this is going to be your bag. But don't expect assimilate all over again. These are good experimentations that I feel are superior to any post 2000 materials that have been put out by the group. -

“Smothered Hope (Demo)” (with improv intro) is a gem! -
Edited 5 years agoAn official pressing is a must for this awesome compilation of earlier tracks ! "Assimilate (Original Inst. Demo)" is one of the numerous aces of this release. "K-9" is a pure dope !
