This album coincides with my fortieth birthday and my father's disease so it arrived at a very special moment. I always liked Bjork but I it that the post-Vespertine years are not the most accessible. When I saw the vaginal-plastico-gelatinous cover of the album, I had a big doubt and a fear, because I ed the very strange, even ugly, costumes that she wore at a certain time.. And then, listening to Utopia was quite a shock. First there are these birds and from the outset, I knew that Utopia was going to live up to the promise that is inherent in the title itself. Then the flutes, the rhythms, the carefully measured sounds of Arca. The album is not a small piece, it is an adventure in an unknown land... and one that I am discovering little by little. It's a real journey, unique, busy and even sometimes difficult, but where beauty reigns supreme. All it takes is arrival at your destination, the last few titles and especially the conclusion, to release all the necessary tears. -
Although not her best work, Bjork's utopia has a beautiful place in her discography. Both graceful and whimsical, utopia sets the listener up for an amazing journey though bjork's world of birds, plants, and many, many flutes. You can really her her maturity in this work and how far she's come from her 90s dance and triphop- art pop into something that can't even be categorized. Utopia feels like an end to a chapter, whether its the end of her divorse drama or retirement. Either its a prequel to something big coming the future, or a slow fizzle away into nature. If this was her last album, I'd be satisfied.

Is the extra stuff that comes with this worth it? I just got the standard version as I prefer jewel cases, but now I am wondering if I should have got this version
