Edited 6 years agoSide A: Sound is ok, prob could have been better. Bass is hollow sounding which kind of muffles up the overall sound. Clarity and separation not that great. Doesn't really sound compressed but not that dynamic either. The sax is pretty sharp and sounds good but the drums are distant and at times are really hard to hear. On the plus side, sounds full and not thin. Some of the moog effects sound really neat and do fly across the room nicely, making the music more spatial at times. The music is very complex which may cause the lack in clarity.
Side B: Sounds so much better! More full, more dynamic, bass sounds legit. Clarity and separation a million times better and the drums actually have better prescence. The piano sounds bright, horns crisp and sharp and the details stand out more. What the hell happened to the A-side?
The pressing is flat centered, plays silent, I cannot detect any surface noise throughout most of the record But there does appear to be non-fill noise towards the end of Side A, could be static. I'll see if it clears up with subsequent plays. Would I reccomend this reissue? Probably not. Am I going to keep it? Ya. Even though Side A is really bad, Side B sounds awesome. it'll do over digital files if I feel like listening to this album. And the thick tip on gatefold is nice. -
Does anyone have any idea about the sourcing for this or care to comment on sound/pressing quality? Any would be much appreciated.
