Grand Funk* – We're An American Band

I found this at a warehouse sale and consider it a hidden gem of my collection.

Recently I obtained a copy of this album without outer sleeve, presumably. It has a yellow inner sleeve with the name of the band and album in red. The label is Pioneer with catalog number PRC-5366, which makes me think this is a version from China. On the back there is text in English and in Chinese (I think, Google translated this for me). On the inside there's a picture of the band on one side, and the lyrics on the other. Does anyone have any information on this copy?

Disgusting sound. As if you hear it from another room. I wonder if the original sounds alike…

Hard to believe this was pressed at Rainbo which, in the past, had a pretty noisy track record. This is a nice mastering with quiet vinyl. Mastered by Ian Sefchick.

Great album. Good pressing. Cover feels like it will be apart if not sleeved and cared for.

LOL I was in high school when this came out. I bought one of the gold vinyl first presses; it looked so cool, but just horrid sonics, crackly to the point of pain. I stumbled on this Club press a couple of weeks ago at a local indie record store. Sonics are simply superb. Crisp. Clear. Delicious. ;) The sound quality of some of the Club presses from this era are a joy to hear. And to think that back then, the common belief was that Club pressings were cheap junk. HAH! Thankful to now know better...

This is also an excellent sounding 8-Track by Grand Funk.

Does anyone have any information on this brown vinyl version ? I stumbled upon a brown 45 of the American Band single. I was told that it was made by an employee who stayed at the pressing plant after hours and mixed the standard black vinyl pellets with the gold and got this color. Any help would be appreciated.
