Harry Belafonte – Jump Up Calypso

Cannot overstate how magnificent the original Living Stereo version of this album sounds.

This feels and plays like quiet SV-P Classic Records; eerily quiet vinyl surface. I love this album and I've been hunting down different copies, but this is the one to get if you're after an audiophile-quality. The music is clean, clean, clean with very clear separation. After having listened to many early versions, this one at first sounded overly-dissected, but by the second play-through, I was sold. Highly recommended. Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray mastering. 👍👍

Not the best 7 ½ ips pre-recorded tape out there, yet still quite enjoyable. Nice and wide stereo image. During quiet ages, hiss is clearly noticeable, although not entirely due to the tape but rather to mastering or the original recording, as you can hear how it fades away in between tracks. Louder tracks however have some significant distortion around sibilant sounds peaking beyond +6dBu.

According to the write-up on the back cover SRS 561 was released in 1962.
