Beautiful record and as someone who has original copies of all Scott’s early Phillips records accumulated from charity shops and car boot sales over 40 years, (and the Walker Brothers) this is the one I return to most.
Sure I love 4, 2 and 1 but this is special….. -

Took a chance on this recently and was apprehensive due to some of the bad review of the fmwb label. However I was happily relieved when I put it on my Rega P3 turntable (through quad 11 speakers) and it maybe be from a CD but the sound is still full and clear and a pretty good soundstage to my ears. Yes there are a few snap crackles and pops along the way, but for me this is just part of the nature of vinyl. If you don't like a little crackle here and there you should probably stick to CDs. For 20 euros I am glad I picked up this great album and really enjoyed listening! -

I have this first pressing and it sounds warm and wonderful. Scott 3 has a special place in my heart. A masterpiece. -
This is indeed a dark brown/amber colored vinyl when held up to the light. An excellent pressing, The music/sound has amazing depth, the bass is nice and full, lifelike, like you are floating in the raincloud with Scott Walker.

Edited one year agoPlaying this reissue directly after an original 1969 Australian pressing, I confirm the reissue compares very well, with Scott's unique vocal quality coming across strongly, identical to the original issue in of quality, timbre and intention. The record was flat and quiet, with the weight and breadth of the arrangements being clear, from the brass to the low bowed string instruments to the very small percussion instruments such as the mark tree, which is a small row of pitched chimes.
With Scott's music, those big sustained chords that rise and fall must be transferred effectively so the listener enters the world that the arrangers and recording engineer (Peter Olliff, who recorded most of Scott's early solo work) preserved for posterity and for us to take in, many years after they took place in the studio. Scott's solo records make unique demands on our playback equipment due to the varied timbres presented and all I look for is a true reflection. I didn't play my original vinyl issues because I wanted a backup - I can now say that I'd be happy to play either one and get the same experience.
I wouldn't hesitate to pick up this reissue pressing, which has one other advantage over the original Australian issue in that it reinstates the original gatefold artwork, which the Australian pressing does not have - this is also true of the original SCOTT 4 vinyl issue.
Play, enjoy and be taken into a unique place - these records are a movie for the ears.... -

Noisy and dull, just the way you like your 4MWB pressing... -
Flawless album
This particular edition has the remaster but is not an enhanced. Molding matches European version made in -
Just a cool FYI about this pressing, it's translucent! It surprised me because I didn't think there was such a thing as this before the '80s. Translucent vinyl often implies a purer "audiophile" grade wax.
BTW this is a gorgeous sounding version, too. -
My copy, bought today, without DC and Back to Black sticker. No problem, sound is brilliant, pressing without any issues! 5 stars.
