Pressed on QEXII vinyl amber color when held up to light.

I have to disagree with the reviewer criticizing the commentary and interviews and their perceived detrimental effect on the overall quality of the set. I appreciate it, as well as the song selection. It's also important to understand that this was a companion piece to a TV special from 1983, and even received a Grammy nomination. If you like Motown, and you like a bit of enlightenment with your music, this set should not be avoided. -
What could have been an amazing retrospective is completely ruined by having stupid voiceover commentary over the song intros. This is like listening to a radio broadcast. Avoid. -
Correction, I believe: etched "TM" is misread and actually a "J" and an "M" i.e. "JM" = mastering engineer John Matousek's initials. -

I don't go out of my way to listen to mowtown, more of a rock and alternative fan, but it's hard to go past this collection and not be impressed by the effort and general slice of musical history that's been presented. Pretty much a blind buy, but I had a blast cleaning each disc in the disc washer and then putting them on for a complete play through with friends around. The sound is rich and warm and it's as if the artists are right there in the room with you. Highly recommended stuff. Didn't pay a lot for it, but it's a prize in my collection. 2 thumbs up for each disc.. so that's 10 thumbs up here.
