Edited 2 years agoAs Logic already said:
Madlib, my man, come the fuck back, damn
Show the people that you understand what I'm sayin'
Quasimoto flow, toe-to-toe with any spitter
Hip-hop needs you in this company, the Black John Ritter
The Further Adventures Of Lord Quas is the second album from producer Madlib's side project Quasimoto. Which is a shame because Madlib not only has impressive qualities as a producer, but also as a rapper. There's not much going on in of content, the album lives in the moment, it's mostly about two of mankind's greatest ions: weed and music. The concept is simple but works. Madlib brings to the table an incredibly strong and at times experimental beat selection, laying the groundwork for some strong and impressive highlights that the album hosts. Don't Blink, Bus Ride, Closer with none other than MF DOOM, Maingirl, The Exclusive, Shroom Music that really kinda sounds like music on shrooms and last but not least my absolute highlight: Raw Addict Pt. 2. If you are a vinyl and music nerd you'll love this track. I also rate the sequencing of the album very positively. All in all a very good album, entertaining, interesting and worth listening to. The pressing and packaging are also absolutely impeccable (I have the VMP version) but neither VMP nor Stone Throw Records ever disappointed me. -

Sounds as great as the VMP press that I also own, little static, but my records were kinda dusty. Most likely the same VMP pressing, but in black. Great sound and also awesome that the full track list (minus the bonus material) are included in this pressing.

Love the alternate cover. Vinyl runs flat and sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, my jacket arrived warped. Reached out to VMP and they gave me a small credit to use for another purchase. Not too bummed about it. I appreciate them dropping this in the first place. Just a bit unlucky on my part.

This is absolutely amazing pressing! Perfect in every way.
I have the first pressing from Stones Throw, but their pressings never sounded great. However, this one does and it's exactly how it is supposed to be. It is silent, no pops, no cracks, although you might hear a lot of it, but it's only because Madlib used a lot of samples from old, beaten up vinyl records, so the cracks are in the recording.
Anyway, another thing is great packaging. It's probably one of the nicest covers I have ever seen and touched. It has a soft finish with glossy details.
It made me appreciate this album more than ever before. -

Edited 3 years agoIt’s drops like these where I feel vindicated by my decision to continue my subscription with Vinyl Me Please
The Further Adventures of Lord Quas is in my top 3 hip hop albums of all time, a sprawling, fragmented quagmire in which songs and skits meld, and are either interrupted or halt abruptly. And true to its title, it has some of the most adventurous experimentation of any hip hop album. With its Alter Ego and tomfoolery, it irably wears its serious concerns (homelessness, maintaining relationships, acknowledging influences, pondering what it takes to be a “genius”, ocd) lightly. As choppy as it sometimes sounds, the album begs to be listened to in its entirety, and I’m grateful that Vinyl Me Please has made that possible on wax. So many standout tracks on this one, but if I had to pick 3, it would the powerful closer, “Privacy”; the second best song about record hunting after PUTS’ “The Dig”, “Raw Addict Pt.2”, and of course, the MF DOOM feature, “Closer”.
Lord Quas, next album dropping when? -
on my cover is instead of the red animal the yellow bear (without speech bubble). I can't find a vinyl version with this cover. The runouts etc. are the same as this version. Can anyone help me finding out which version I have?

It's when you listen to this that you realize that the "Further" instrumentals are not as excellent and groovy as on "The Unseen". I prefer "The Further Adventures" as an album though. Weird!
