Truly impeccable pressing. Beginning with a somber yet beautiful Saint James Infirmary really sets up the rest of the album. By far the best from my Armstrong collection!

Incredible sound. “St James Infirmary” is worth your first born. Have some historical albums that play just like that, historical. This is a high fidelity time capsule. The liner notes do a great job of explaining how this recording happened and AP presents it flawlessly.

Sonically, this is an incredible recording, and musically, well- who makes music like this anymore? It brings a bit of old New Orleans into your listening room and into your mind and heart, and once you're past "St James Infirmary"- which is a great, albeit overplayed-in-the-audio-demo-world piece- the following songs kinda makes you want to party!!

I’m so happy this got repressed, and is currently available today on the acoustic sounds site, I’ve been waiting for many years, refusing to pay the high prices on the secondary market.

Finally got a copy, was almost going to shell out on the flipper market before they announced the repress and it wasn't cheap! This is as good as they say, created as a demo for early stereo, they put every effort into soundstage, dynamics and clarity, it was a true next step in what could be presented in high end audio, Stereo at first was extremely expensive and only the very rich could afford entry as it meant a second amp (they were all mono blocks) and a second speaker and substantially more space. So this was tailored at the kinds of people who had the high end equipment of the time far in advance of what every day people listened on. The label, Audio Fidelity were one of the first to put out a stereo recording, and even back then were classed as an "audiophile" high end label, they were expensive records, very well recorded.

I have the 2024 180g reissue. Looks to be same barcode. Maybe need separate listings on Discogs?

FYI- This album was recently repressed by Analogue Productions on 180g vinyl, and it is currently available for $40.00 at Acoustic Sounds (as of 9/25/2024).
