Neil Young – Time Fades Away

Had me jumping out of my chair a few times thinking someone was in the room with me. Sonically, musically fantastic.

The Bridge sounds a little slowed down (?) It would be nice if someone checks out if the speed/pitch is right with this press.

Un album live, composto esclusivamente di inediti e registrato sul palco durante il 1973, nel North American Tour. Con una qualità del suono catturata sul palco, non proprio eccelsa. Accompagnato da Crosby Nash e gli Stray Gators. Il disco a suo tempo fu ripudiato dall autore, la genesi del disco nacque dopo un tour con molti problemi tra cui anche finanziari. Nonostante le reticenze di Young fu ristampato dopo molti anni sotto la pressione dei fans che organizzarono una importante petizione.

Couple of things about this record. I was the mastering engineer at Columbia in San Francisco. While it was mastered directly from 16 to lathe the copies I made while cutting are, in effect, master tapes because they are first generation. Also, it would be difficult to make new mixes from the 16 tracks because David Briggs used the console EQ, our limiters and, most importantly, our echo chambers.

The sound is a bit muffled in comparison to the 50 pressing.

Great pressing, but the cover is quite dark in comparison to my 30 year old one.

Bellman has once again raised the bar. Taking these live recordings from 1973 and sprucing them up to this level of clarity is absolutely stunning. Pick one up before these go out of print like the originals...you wont regret it

My copy appears to have another variation on the matrix/runout, with all the other identifiers consistent, as follows:-

I have owned this lp since it was released- the sound is raw and full of energy. A great album-

The 1st of Neil young’s so called dark trilogy along with Tonight’s The Night & On The Beach ye one of his most powerful albums in of sheer stripped down emotion.
Neil's voice is perhaps a bit “shaky” but this only adds to the bleak emotional mood.
A brave social observation of the rock and roll life of the early 70s.
A raw imionate melancholic rewarding set of songs.
