referencing The Magic Friend (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) BYTE 12015
The 4th and final single off 2 Unlimited's successful album, Get Ready, an album I still own on cassette! The video clip to the song was recorded in the Western Australian desert during a brief Australian tour in 1992. They even performed The Magic Friend on a well known Australian music show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4mc_kAqzqg. I'm surprised Countdown was still on TV in 1992.
The concept of the Megamix was a popular thing to do for Techno acts at the time. It was a cheap and easy way to milk more money from previously released songs. But I liked it. My one and only lasting memory of the 2 Unlimited Megamix was hearing it on the only Football program in Australia at the time. The World Game on the 5th most popular TV channel, SBS. For non-Australians, SBS stands for Soccer, Boobs and Subtitles. The Megamix was played over a montage of the best Football goals of 1992, mostly the English Premier League and Italy's Serie A. -
The actual track kinda sucks balls, I've never really liked it.
But the Rio & Le Jean remix brings it up into a bouncy wee track without the lag.
