Thick vinyl on this pressing nearing 180 gram! Doubt its a reissue -
This 24-bit 192kHz remaster, coming 44 years after its debut, sounds amazing. The first song had me worried about clarity, but it has a "live" vibe. From the 2nd song onward everything is amazing. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. I can even hear some electric guitar amp hum at the beginning of the 3rd song. Fantastic!

I'm not sure how this LP sounds dull and confused. This is a very good pressing. Stereo separation is wonderful. The bass is nice and deep, with no muddiness. The soundstage is wide with clear and solid detail. The midtones, especially the vocals, are clear and have no limitations. I'm also playing this on a high-end system, so that could also be the difference, but even playing on a mid-tier system like a Pro-Ject with an Ortofon cartridge should give you excellent sound. Highly recommended.

Edited one year ago"Papa was a rolling stone" is unreal here, the bass is beyond deep (but not bloated).
Thank you Maarten and thank you Speakers Corner! -

My copy is identical to this one down to the runout and lettering style on the label, but the artist name and song titles are in silver and not black as shown in one of the above photos. Does anyone else have this variant? -
Paul Warren, an old family friend from Detroit, played the "blues" guitar track that answers the Wah Wah Watson guitar track. He was only 15 years old. You can hear the blues track start up right after the vocals start. James Jamerson may have done bass on some of the songs but I heard he ed on "Papa" because he just couldn't wrap his head around what Whitfield wanted.

Temptations 1971:
Dennis Edwards, tenor; Eddie Kendricks, tenor/falsetto; Paul Williams, tenor/baritone; Melvin Franklin, bass; and Otis Williams, tenor/baritone -
Fantastic album. Funk/soul. Long version of Papa was a rolling stone is just a classic. Great to add to collection.
