Shelter (2) – Mantra

I own the original 1995 U.S. pressing of this record with the "true" Krishna album cover art (this is the "censored" cover with the huge, ugly tribal face slapped right across the front instead).

I compared this MOV version with the original pressing and there is a significant difference in quality, none of it good. This MOV version sounds flat and dull compared to the punchier, livelier sounding OG press. Additionally, MOV's reputation for grainy scanned artwork rears its ugly head again. You can definitely tell by the back cover and the printed insert, which actually doesn't even have all of the song lyrics printed on it that the OG pressing insert does. Not sure what that's all about, but it's an incomplete package nonetheless because of this.

So once again, MOV has reissued a legendary 90s album that I simply can't recommend, due to it being drastically inferior. The orange flame vinyl is nice, but coloured vinyl is notoriously bad for the vinyl format and this is unfortunately no exception. You'd simply be better off buying a used VG+ or NM- OG copy that fetches about $50 instead. Believe me, it's worth it for a superior pressing of this landmark hardcore album!
