Madonna – Drowned World (Substitute For Love)

Reviewing every record in my collection:

This Maxi singles is, in simple words, Flawless. Sound Quality is otherworldly, and the remixes dear goodness, probably some of Madonna's best. Sasha is a great DJ, and they know how to make a club banger out of a rock-ballad. But with no doubts, my favorite must be the Sky Fits Heaven remix. A song that deserved to be a single, this remix elevates it to a whole new different level. My only complaint is that it has the Edit instead of the full 7 minute remix, so it leaves you craving for more, I guess I'll have to buy the promo one instead.

This is labeled as 45rpm but my copy plays at 33.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it say Made in Germnany on the flap not ?

They couldn't even add the Radio Edit of Drowned World? lol.

Is this considered a Promo? Other sites have it as Promo so kinda confused.

Contrary to the notes, both sides play at 45RPM on my copy.

From a production standpoint (and a staying-true-to-their-sound standpoint as well) BT & Sasha did a decent job on this remix, mainly because they kept the same dark feel from the album version which went well with their styles. The only issue is that the mix hit a bit too progressively hard for most gay Madonna-loving dance floors: it was tough to program.

The intro was oddly-structured, the vocals were sparse (and the whole second verse is missing), and the instrumental rhythm that dominates the mix is a bit long and monotonous. It's the kind of mix you'd play very late into the night at a gay club during a more progressive set (if you can get away with such a set in that particular bar).

Sasha's mix of Sky Fits Heaven came out at the same time as this, and got way better dance floor response since it has all the vocals, and has more similarities to the album version compared to his and BT's mix of Drowned World.
