The Rolling Stones – Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass)

Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) is the first compilation album by Decca in the UK.

The US edition focused on songs from 1964 and 1965, with two new tunes: the then-recent "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing In The Shadow? "

The US cover image is the back cover image of the UK release.
UK vinyl covers have either pale blue or pale green cover text versions, as well as plain text or mono tracks indicated with an asterisk on the back cover.

The first UK pressing from November, 1966 has 'unboxed' green labels (stereo), or light blue labels with silver lettering (mono).

Early UK pressings are identified by the tax code "KT." It MUST be present on labels and in matrix/runout, otherwise it is a later pressing, as explained below:
Most of the Decca records have a tax code on the vinyl. This is not a Decca code, but rather the official code used in UK before 1973 to recognize the sales tax percentage.
- MT code was the official tax code in UK from January 1 to June 30, 1963.
- KT code was used between July 1, 1963 and November 22, 1968.
- JT code was used from November 23, 1968 to April 1, 1973, when the UK government brought the VAT tax system into use.
If the tax code is missing, then the LP is pressed after April 1, 1973.
These dates are the official dates when the codes changed. There may be a slight overlap as it is not known how quickly Decca changed the stampers to the correct tax code. Some LP’s do have two codes, both JT and KT on the same vinyl. These LP’s may have been pressed about the time when the code change took place, November, 1968.
