Released in November 1986, "Disco" is a collection of remixed tracks from Pet Shop Boys' debut album "Disco (Pet Shop Boys).
Though not listed as such on this release, the versions appearing here are also known / were previously released as:
- "In The Night (Extended Mix)" - previously unreleased, possibly intended to feature on Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money) (Dance Mix)
- "Suburbia (The Full Horror)" - standard 12" version
- "Paninaro (Italian Remix)" - from Paninaro
- "Love Comes Quickly (Shep Pettibone Mastermix)" - from US 12" Love Comes Quickly
"Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money)" is very similar to '(Versión Latina)' - from the 12" "Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots Of Money)". At the very end, the track suddenly goes mono for the final stab, the following chord being clearly audible and fading out, whereas on the 12" the stab remains in stereo, the final chord being very faint and cutting off quickly. The ending is exclusive to "Disco".
"West End Girls" is a remix edit exclusive to this album; it is essentially the 'Shep Pettibone Mastermix', but with the intro of the 'West End Dub', and an extended fade.

Edited 3 years agoThis is an album of remixes of some of their hits as techno disco dance music. Which is kind of funny as that is what their music already was. The auditory result is that the whole album makes every song sound - a bit the same. Even though they had different people mix each one, each song songs a lot like the last, but with slightly different melody and lyrics. As I was listening to Suburbia I kept thinking I should be hearing Opportunities lyrics. When I got to Opportunities, I was a bit disappointed. It's almost like all the songs have the same chord palate and so - aren't diverse enough on their own to warrant this treatment. It's like they put the vocals of one song over the background of another. Can't quite put my finger on it. It's a pleasant enough album. It's interesting to listen to if you like Pet Shop Boys A LOT. For everyone else, it's going to sound a bit, redundant and derivative. On the other hand, if you just want techno dance music for a period of time, this album would be great. -
One of their best. This japanese pressing sounds amazing. The remix by Shep Pettibone with that bassline is a gem. -
