Bruce Springsteen – Cover Me

That dub version of Cover Me is a monstrosity. It's like the fetal alcohol syndrome love child of Duran Duran, Herbie Hancock and Miami Sound Machine.

You appear to be showing the 1985 reissue which came with the additional cover sticker. Without seeing additional pictures it is hard to say but the sticker is a clue. The back leg has correct (33rpm) speed. The 1st issue did NOT have the cover sticker and had the incorrect speed (45rpm) blocked out with 33 rpm printed underneath. This is well documented. The 1st issue flopped and 6-7 months later this 1985 issue was released, essentially the same BUT it is VERY PRONE to discolouring (the so-called 'tea-staining') and it is very very difficult to find a completely clear vinyl copy. The 1st issue also suffers from this chemical staining (cause unknown but almost certainly an incorrect vinyl mix) but does not suffer so badly. Very simple to establish which is 1st or 2nd. NOTE the 1st issue did NOT have a sticker though, of course, it is very easy to swop covers as the folded plinth is exactly the same.

The 12" remix by Arthur Baker is a love-it or hate-it offering for the Springsteen faithful. It is far removed from the album track as it contains jungle drums, a backing vocal, and a keyboard overlay. Personally, it is an interesting experiment, but when I first bought it back in 1984, I left it on the shelf un-played for years. Now, it's all about nostalgia. Give it a listen.

My copy says 'Taken from the CBS Lp: "Born In The U.S.A." - CBS 86304 (in English) on the label. Are there 2 labels, in English and Italian?

My copy has a misprint of the time duration of 6:40 rather than the misprint of 6:10.
