R.E.M. is definitely judged as 2 different bands. One before Losing Your Religion and one after. I tend to lean toward for the prior. But regardless these are a great collection of the earlier days. My pressing sounds great. Highly recommended!

Apart from being cut almost hilariously quiet, it sounds good. Expect to crank the volume knob considerably.

Extremely disappointed in the sound quality of this. Very low volume, lifeless and dull sounding, with too many light pops even after a thorough vacuum wet cleaning before playing. 2.5/5.0 on overall sound quality. Avoid.

This sounds great. No regrets. Correct album was in the sleeve.

Just bought a new, sealed copy of this from Merchbar and the inner sleeve and record was for Lifes Rich Pageant. Anyone else have this issue?

The first 5 tracks on Side 1 are pretty close to perfection. Band sounds great, recording is beautiful, sound on the disc is sterling. The emergence of their "commercial" sound on Side 2 is just a small step down IMO. I have a touch of hearing damage and usually need a bit of boost in the highs so the treble-y sound (matched with deep bass) is great for me. This is my favorite R.E.M. 12". An essential disc.

The sound on this compilation LP is pretty great albeit a little treble heavy. The recordings are tight and mastered well. Pounding drums, lively bass and vocals placed ever so gently. Sparkling acoustics and a detailed midrange. The songs are balanced well and full sounding and have a nice richness and warmth to them. The band sounds really good here. With some songs really opening up like Talk About The ion which just invades the room with its shimmering guitars and soft background string arrangements. Big, bold sound on this one. A nice compilation of some of REMs most excellent tracks and a quality pressing. Found a sealed copy for cheap and plays without any flaws for a decades old vinyl. Fans will appreciate the beautiful sound on this collection of songs.

This group from Athens created single-handedly the sound of the eighties, with a mix of the typical rhythm of The Velvet Underground, the Rickenbacker-jengelende guitar playing of The Byrds and their own charismatic vague vocals. Many bands followed their example. But even then the R.E.M. sound the standard became the lucrative "alternative rock"-genre refused the group. The band continued to change and develop, without ever letting go of their undergroundprincipes. In one way or another in the course of time they were superstars, but also this changed their surrender to their music does not. In 1997, drummer Bill Berry left the group, but Michael Stipe, Peter Buck and Mike Mills continued to persevere despite his absence. In september 2011, the band was raised.
