Chico Buarque – Construção

My favorite Brazilian record of all time. Pressing has an amazing groove. Here you can get a sense of how much Brazilians had become masters in the production of records of this genre. The sleeve is extremely flimsy and thin on this one but the sound is incredible. Warm and detailed. If the quality of the sleeve throws you off, rest assured that the record itself sounds great and is worth picking up if you see one in the wild.

I have different copy from Uruguay from "Philips" and "Industria Uruguaya"
On the label it says: "Disco es cultura (P) 1972 AGADU-SEIAE" to the left. "63.49017" and "6349017" below to the right.

Kind of disappointing that there is no inner sleeve but still, the record sounds beautiful with zero surface noise on my copy.

For anyone who owns this: is this version's source analog or CD? Polysom is known to use CD's as a audio source for some of their reissue pressings. I really want to buy this but am not sure if it's analog sourced.

I bought this copy after reading the reviews here. First of all, I previously owned an original copy and my current copy is a very clean Brazilian 80's pressing.

The cover is an exact reproduction of original jacket, except chico's picture which is little bit pixelated. The fonts and logo are very well printed and sharp.

Speaking about the sound, in my opinion, I think the stereo mix is definitely better compared to my 80's pressing. The stereo on original mix is not really centered, there is an emphasis on right channel that sometimes causes very little distortions on left channel.
This new mix has clearly a more stable, solid and centered sound.

As a conclusion, I prefer this new version which is more pleasant to listen to.

About the pressing: The record is silent and centered but it was totally warped, i had to unwarp it...

one of the worse elemental pressings. plays with surface noise. does not sound like original masters.

Good reissue,the sound is perfect. One of the best record ever made in Brasil.

This is so out of this world good and the epitome of what real acoustic music is supposed to sound like. The instrumentation, funkiness, melancholy, the general quality of production, level of excitement from the 70ties sound aesthetic, the arrangements (!), the way the singer touches me, killer percussion work, the rhythm guitarist, even if I don't understand a word of Portuguese, the composition of this LP as a whole, I can't imagine to find a similar quality LP in the near future, this gives joy. My words can't do this justice, this is a masterpiece.
