Chaka Khan – Epiphany: The Best Of Chaka Khan Volume One

An excellent showcase for the sound quality of HDCD, too bad the compilation begins 5 years into her career, and live reworkings of classic songs doesn't cut it...

Not the best sound, not the worst. It's not as bad as the 2022/early 2023 vinyl re-issues Of Whitney Houston's first 2 albums and Bodyguard Soundtrack

But it sounds like a used cassette. I'm hearing that high-frequency background noise you often get with cassettes.

Sound quality is great but only bought this for the songs missing from the vinyl. Need to release the rest of the songs on vinyl which is superb sounding!

Having Chaka Khan in your vinyl collection is a must, especially if you love this iconic singer's solo work. Hopefully, Rufus will have key albums remastered on vinyl as well. This burgundy vinyl edition of 'Epiphany' simply shines, but is missing 6 tracks that were on the original CD. Reissued by Rhino, the quality is amazing.....love the quiet vinyl pressing, and the mastering was tastefully done. Each song sounds rich & full. With only 10 songs, it definitely leaves you wanting for more, much more. Personally, I'd love to have the 6 missing tracks plus bonus track 'It Ain't Easy Loving Me' on included, but maybe a 'Vol.2' is in the works. At any rate, the price is definitely right for this album. Get it today 4.5 stars!

Great music, disappointing pressing. Too much surface noise. If you can ignore the surface noise, it doesn’t sound any better than the CD.

As a massive fan of Chaka, my mam was so disappointed with this newest pressing. For she is not able to believe that Warner/Rhino Records could not expand the tracklisting, so as to include a selection of Chaka's newer smashes, such as the wonderful "Like Sugar". This would have made this record, an essential for all true Chaka fans. But as it is, my mam thinks that this record is so unnecessary, and something of a waste of money. As she says, it is like paying extra to buy pre-cut luncheon meat, when she can just buy this food item whole and then slice it up herself!!
