Herbie Hancock – Head Hunters

Great sounding Japanese reissue. I don’t have any other copy of this record to compare but it lacks a bit of clarity when compared to some of my jazz funk collection from the same era. Esp the drums - the snare lacks a bit of snap.

However, that doesn’t make this a bad listening experience at all. The dynamics are there and that makes the listening experience immersive.

This is a very good placeholder till I get an original US copy.

Not saying anything new here by saying this sounds great, but I will say that even on a lower-end (but not bogus) system like mine, I was able to tell the difference between this and the 2009 Music On Vinyl press almost immediately. The bass on this is RICH and the midrange is lively. Each instrument has plenty of room to shine. I think its only a couple more dollars retail than the MOV so if you're on the fence the price difference is 100% worth it. As for the music itself, I think this is one of the best albums ever made. Everyone should own this.

Other than a sleeve, or slipcase, and an annoying black CD that may be a CD-R with little pretend grooves on the face to give one that real vinyl experience, this is identical sonically to this, Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters, and likely every other edition released after the big remaster.

As far as I can discern the digital transfer for this is identical in every region. Including this edition, Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters, having compared directly between the two.

100% analog remastered of this classic pressed at QRP. What more could anyone want. It’s phenomenal. Not the fancy gatefold jacket many new releases have been coming with, but it’s the sound that matters and this sounds fantastic.

Sounds awesome and he uses that one note flute on watermelon man that sounds raw as hell. This is the 45 rpm pressing and its still super long. Good Music

Sounds really great, my copy is in a wonderful state and as it is often the case with Japanese pressings, the quality of the materials are wonderful

In reference to a Canadian variant, DIDP-020071 5 *** *****. As a comparison disc this is a nice relic. A rather dull and lifeless edition even when volume is applied.

Sound is superb regardless playing on stereo or Quattro equipment👌
