Two Against Nature is the eighth studio album by American rock band Steely Dan. Their first studio album in 20 years, it was recorded from 1997 to 1999 and released on February 29, 2000, by Giant Records.
A critical success, Two Against Nature won the group four Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Engineered Album – Non-Classical, and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (for the single "Cousin Dupree"). Commercially, it peaked at number six on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and sold more than one million copies, earning a Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Package is better than the 2021 RSD Optimal pressing , Glossy gatefold, decent sleeves too.
As to the quality , it is better than the 2021 RSD Optimal in just about every way , quieter between tracks, little more bass depth , cymbals and BV sound more defined.
Soundstage is wider and deeper too.
This in the UK was around 40% of the cost of my UHQR AJA , which puts it into context , I don't think it's that far behind. -

The 2021 RSD 33 version has been one of my go to demo records since it came out, so I was very curious (and a bit skeptical) on how it could possibly be improved. Well, the AP 45 does it - The sound stage is more expansive in all directions, deeper, and the sounds have more weight and extension. If the RSD was a 10, this is an 11. This is easily a top 3 demo disc in my collection. Playing it through Magnepans feels like some sort of black magic fuckery. I am also of the opinion that this is Steely Dan's most well-engineered recording, followed by Gaucho. An essential audiophile release. Period. -

Wow, this record sounds amazing. It is one of the best-sounding records in my collection. Before getting this, I had compared the original CD, the DVD 5.1, and the AP SACD. I found the AP SACD to be the best. However, I bought this one shortly after and this one beats the AP SACD. Do not hesitate to buy! -

I have both this one and the 2021 reissue upsbucky: That one is very close to this one in of sound quality. But I do hear differences. The 2021 is a bit more laid back, with not as wide a soundstage, and not quite the same high-end extension. But I can easily imagine that this would be system-dependent. (See my profile for a link to info on my system.) Still, that one is now very hard to find, and often more expensive than this version, so I'd definitely suggest grabbing this while you can still get it for a good price. As of this writing, Acoustic Sounds still has it in stock. -

This album and Everything Must Go pressed by QRP/Analogue Productions are masterfully done. Zero noise floor. Dynamic and punchy mastering. Bass, drums and instruments all perfect and vocals are stunning. The packaging is beyond beautiful. Glossy cover and super thick card stock. Worth every penny. -
On my copy it sounds like the music is almost ducking on some parts, for example the chorus to "Jack Of Speed". Anyone else hear this in their copy? -
Edited one year agoJust got this from a French discogs seller yesterday, seems as I've being lucky, my copy is fantastic, flat and completely noise free, it grades as A+ on my Puffin which is basically means Mint. Soundwise it's truly fantastic, punchy and dynamic and full of detail, one of my best sounding records, get it if you can!.

Turntable: Modded and upgraded Technics Sl 1210 mk2 with silicone tonearm damper and At 6006r tonearm lifter. Carts: Grado Opus 3, At vm95ml, At vm540ml and At oc9xml MC cart, Pre Amp: Parks Audio Puffin, Amp: Denon Pma-800ne. Speakers :Dali Oberon 5 floor standing speakers. -
The singing voices are sharply focused in the center of the soundstage. The drums are very strong with powerful strikes and excellent cymbal sounds. The guitar is also excellent. All of the other instruments are very well-rendered. There is a lot of space, and a lot of air around instruments.
This is a very strong release. It's almost perfect.
