Frank Sinatra – Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits

A great collection. I had this on a dubbed cassette tape probably 30 years ago and listened to it in my car over and over. I or someone must have dubbed it from a record because it was complete with skips and crackles. Found this copy near mint in the family recently. Listening to it I can still where the skips would have been on my old cassette. But this one is tip top. They don't make them like Frank anymore.

An interesting thing with compilation albums: the songs were not all re-recorded for this, rather they were taken from the existing albums and pasted onto this one. Now that is obviously commonplace, but when it comes to a reel tape, you can very easily hear the difference in quality with some songs. "Strangers in the Night" does not sound as good as the booming and illustrious "Summer Wind", but it is indeed a 7½ IPS reel, so it sounds fair regardless.

This must be 180g vinyl – its a heavy slab of wax and sounds superb

Very poor sound quality, I rather advise to get the first one from the 60's.

Although this is a good selection of Sinatra songs, and a great listen. This Portuguese version isn't of the best quality. The sound is slightly muffled, some of the recordings clip and distort. The inlay booklet is printed badly with numbers and letters barely readable, and the cover art isn't great with a low quality image of the original LP and some wonky Reprise Records logos.

Oh and tracks A4 and B5 are printed the wrong way round. Being that A4 should be 'When Somebody Loves You' and B4 'Somewhere In Your Heart'.

Can't say how the other pressings sound, but give this one a miss if you care about quality.
