Keith Flint added some Johnny Rotten snarl to this punked-up take on big beat that reached #1 in the UK. This arsonist anthem was the Prodigy's most controversial yet conventional song to date, with a verse-chorus-verse vocal structure and original guitar hook, adapted from The Breeders' squealing grunge guitars on Close (To The Edit)". Menacing, edgy and infectious. (8) -

Love the guitar sample from Adam & The Ants sample in "Molotov Bitch" -
Does anyone have one they are willing to sell, my husband bought this 8 times & no refunds, only to be sent UK & other versions all in digipak. He’s lost a lot of money & keeps being scammed & I’m sick of hearing it! Please help!

Please get rid of your Crosleys and dont lie about this release. It has perfect mastering and HUGE sound. Snaps like hell! Listened on two rigs - Technics SL-1500C+Hana ML+Marantz PM7000N+KEF R3+REL T5x and Technics SL-1500C+Goldring 2500+Creek 50A+Definitive Technology D9+KEF KC62. Its not a problem of label that your setup is cheap.

All about the Empirion mix for me, this started to make appearances in many mainstream techno jocks sets at the back end of the 90s, has a real rave feel to it adding bleeps, trippy samples and harder beats, the original is a classic lets face it but for me this mix takes it to another level, I loved this version since i bought the cassette from Virgin records back in 1996.
Worth mentioning aswell the track Molotov Bitch, cracking alternative big beat track by a group sorely missed, this single has one of the most iconic dance single covers of the 1990s. I two lads getting expelled for arson at a school down the road from us, they got relocated and came to ours and everyone sang this to em!...those were the days, R.I.P. Keith -
Terrible sounding cut of a song that deserves much more. If Keith Flint was alive today, and Prodigy was producing Firestarter for the first time, this is what it would sound like. This cut is so bad I can’t even listen to it on my main setup. Harsh highs, no mids, and bass that leaves you desperate. Unless you get this one cheap, I’d skip.

Looking past this 12's multitude of failures - It is a massive wasted opportunity to put the infinitely-superior Mefjus & Camo & Krooked remix of Breathe on the B-side. In this day and age of long waits for vinyl pressings why did they just put one tune on this when they had two remixed? Such a waste. As for it not coming with a paper sleeve, records shipped in this kind of sleeve don't typically come with paper, so this is a none-issue for me.
-
Wonder if some inconsistency with the pressing. Had mine a couple of weeks and tested various different turntable adjustments. Really thin mix. Hissy highs and the bass is just not there. Disappointed doesn't cover it.

Okay, here are the things:
1. No inner sleeve.
2. Only A-side (with the mix).
3. B-side (no music grooves) has iconic Flinty's haircut shape print (which is not presented in review picture for this release here for some reason). Be careful, when you look at the picture of the release on the official prodigy website you can be in impression that side with the record has that Flinty's haircut share painting/print, but it is not!
4. Edging of the vinyl itself is very poor. It has some leftovers after pressing and cutting, also, when you hold the record in your hands, you can feel that poor quality of that unpolished edges.
5. Limited Edition? Maybe, but no any numbers highlighted on cover or label in this case I'm just thinking is marketing hype.
6. 25th Anniversary Edition? Of what? Of the Firestarter Single? Or Firestarter (Andy C Remix) Single? As far as I know Andy C Remix is new one and can't celebrate 25th Anniversary. That's a bit disappointing. Why not include original mix of the Firestarter plus that Andy C Remix as well? Again, in this case is just marketing hype.
7. Also, I don't understand why it's 12'' size? It can be easily printed on 7''.
Results.
I'm extremely disappointed with that release, its not only about content but quality as well. I'm huge fan of the Prodigy band but all these things with 25th Anniversary Editions from XL Recording (The Fat Of The Land, Firestarter) are totally disaster!
Cheers, I hope my detailed review helps somebody.
