When the track starts, you can hear "Hey kids, what time is it?", this is taken from the intro of the show Howdy Doody (USA) from 1947, it's a puppet show, a children's television program, where Buffalo Bob says exactly this to start the show. In the show, the children reply: "It's Howdy Doody time!".
-
Samples a shitload of stuff, but the highlight is the Fast Eddie Smith sample of Jack to the sound of the Underground, originally released on DJ International.
-
This track was a good commercial anthem when release in 1988. It sounds as a kind of track which announced the premise of the EURO-HOUSE style (commercial one) which came couple of years after between 90-2000 with a lot of productions, more or less qualitative.
-
While the original '88 mix is a fun piece of sample-laden House, this 1994 remix is basically a totally different track.
What does it keep? The Kelly Charles "No Good For Me" vocal, the rap samples.
Apart from that, you're looking at a totally different track. And trust me, it's a good thing for Eurodance fans.
This '94 remix is simply one of the highlights of the golden era of Eurodance. With a searing riff, rasping bassline and tight percussion it encapsulates the most classy aspects of that short lived style.
Jack To The Sound Of The Underground ('94 Remix Version) is one of the CLASSICS of the Eurodance sound.
You are advised to check it out if you like Da Blitz, Antares, Daydream etc. -
Edited 3 years agoCool (mainly instrumental) acid mix here! Certainly much better than the somewhat commercial sample fest of the original.
-
Licensed from the Belgian new beat/italo label Hithouse, this is label owner Peter Slaghuis going hell for leather. Love it or hate it, this is a massive floorslammer.
-
Too many samples: cartoon, classic house samples, oldschool rap samples, disco horns, etc. A circus-like bassline (I always thought it sounded like a tuba,) minimal beats and subtle 303's. Even though this track isn't very acidic, it was known as an acidhouse track. It recieved some radio play. You must have this track if you are an oldschool house collector. This was probably the second house track to receive radio play, the first being "Pump up the volume."
