Can't blame the band for putting out a single album, when it should have been a double. Record company decides what sells

sounds great if you got a stylus that can track properly. even for so much music crammed on each sides. sounds good from start to finish on my set up. *stylus is microline which have tendencies to cut into hard grooves like butter. -
This is one of the best-sounding records in my collection. I, like others below, am not sure why they switched the brilliant original version of 'So Why So Sad' out for the Avalanches remix - I would have much preferred the former. Also, closing with 'Miss Europa Disco Dancer' was a stroke of genius, like a retrospective shape-of-things-to-come statement.
-
Not a good press. Too much compression to fit all tracks on a single record. The only advantage is the original track list.
-
Sounds fantastic, this is by far the best these songs have ever sounded to my ears. I liked the original well enough for the most part when it came out, but the remix/remaster on this sounds very good indeed on vinyl, and significantly better than the streaming version of this release. Also I would say this is a case where the album as a whole actually benefits from being broken up into four sides. Pretty clean records out of the sleeve for me, almost no surface noise, well centered.

Edited 2 years agoI'm just listening to it for the first time. Really not that bad. It is quiet, so you'll have to turn the volume up, but that means that dynamics is better than you would expect for the record (or sides) that have really many songs on it. It is much much better sounding than original CD. No poly sleeve unfortunately.

Good pressing, sounds great. Not sure about the reordered tracklist as spent so long with the original. I mean, the fact that they left off Royal Correspondent but kept the absolute dog-shite, album ruining, Miss Europa and Watsville Blues beggars belief. Oh well at least as they are the last two tracks I can just turn it off after Dead Martyrs :)
-
Record sounds great overall! I know this is the way that they intended the album to be but I don't understand why they replaced "So Why So Sad?" with the Avalanches remix. Also, "Royal Correspondent" was one of my favorite tracks from the original album. Other than those 2 gripes it's a great release!
-
Does anyone else who has the 3 cd version have issues with the hidden track on disc 2? Track 19 Little Trolls? The disc looks fine but it skips throughout the whole song and finally cuts off early.
-
The vinyl comes in paper and the edges are not cut well, I had to have scrape off the rest of the plastic. But plays well cleaned up. The sound is much better and more dynamic than on the old CD, or on the new digital version.
