First-generation CD's

CD's listed here are early (first generation) pressings.
Though many CD's in this list have 1982 as release date, some of them were actually released in 1983 or later.
All these CD's were made by either Polygram West (Philips) or CBS/Sony Japan the only two CD plants at the time.
Most of these CD"s (if not all) were originally released in a smooth edge jewel-case. The Polygram releases have a silver center. The artwork completely covered the top side max 2 colors are used. Matrix numbers are cat# without the space in the middle (For example (matrix# 800011 2 for cat# 800 011-2).
The CBS/Sony have a transparent center and often (if not always) CSR COMPACT DISC repeated three times in the hub where CSR = CBS Sony Records. Very first pressings have a gold tone and text MANUFACTURED BY CBS/SONY RECORDS INC in the hub later pressings are silver.
For both plants: the matrix info is written in a crude dot matrix font.
