Grammophon

Profile:

German label from the shellac era.
Introduced in 1914, the label was initially named Schallplatte „Grammophon“ and used by the Deutsche Grammophon.

The label used the Nipper-trademark, which depicts the dog Nipper together with a gramophone after a painting by Francis Barraud.
The background color of the labels is a visual code for the price class of the record.
The Schallplatte „Grammophon“ label used a multi-colored Nipper-trademark later in combination with its German name "Die Stimme Seines Herrn".
The Grammophon label used a stylized, single-colored Nipper-trademark in combination with its German name "Die Stimme Seines Herrn". The label design was changed between April and May 1939 to a more stylized Nipper-trademark with three stars on both sides of the label and then the three stars were replaced by angle brackets.
The Nipper-trademark was not used anymore after the discontinuation of the Grammophon label and was sold to Electrola Gesellschaft m.b.H. in 1949.
