Profile:

Max Glucksmann refers to both a person and an early record company & general store in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mordechai David Glücksmann was an Austro-Hungiariam entrepreneur who pioneered cinema and record technology in Argentina. He is responsible for introducing the concept of copyright publishing & royalties in the country, and the establishment of the first cinemas.
b. 8 Mar. 1875, Austro-Hungary
d. 20 Oct, 1946, Buenos Aires

Working from the general store Casa Lepage since 1896. In 1904 he enters a deal with Carlos Gardel.

Argentina Odeon records were pressed in at Odeon Werke and other Odeon factories, however the onset of WWI made this endeavour near impossible by 1915 due to the sinking of German trade convoys.

Following the industry-wide collapse due to the Great War, by 1917 Lepage has been renamed and reopened as Casa Max Gluckmann. After that, records were pressed by Brazil's Odeon branch The Argentine Talking Machine Works record company and factory, with Glucksmann at the helm.

In this second period, Glucksmann developed an interest in recording Tango, for which he organized multiple shows and performance contests, coming in with a number of pioneer artists among them Roberto Firpo, who had their career kickstarted through Odeon.

Locally recorded records commercialized pre WWI in Casa Lepage have a sticker reading "Derechos de Autor Pagados por Max Glücksmann" ; as early as 1917, labels would read as "Exclusividad Max Glucksmann, Buenos Aires" which refers to Casa Max Glucksmann, as it was a custom for company-stores commissioning labels in the period to credit their exclusive marketing rights.

Casa Max Glucksmann and all cinema properties of Glucksmann were sold in 1930 due to the Great Depression.
