Homocord

Profile:

German shellac label operating under this name between 1923 and 1932 (renamed from Homokord).
In the UK, the label was named Homochord.

Additional branding seen on some Homocord records:

Vollklang: added purely for marketing in the late acoustic era. These records feature older Homokord recordings.
Electro: on early electric records (1926-1929). Initially based on a custom recording process introduced in March 1926 before Columbia Graphophone Company Ltd. acquired Homocord in 1928, bringing the common Western Electric process.
Fern-Aufnahme: additional branding since 1927 on electric recordings of large halls transmitted through telephone to the studio.
Freiaufnahme: similar to Fern-Aufnahme, but recorded outdoors.

In 1932, the label was taken over by the Parlophon records.
The studio orchestra was the Homocord Orchester.

They also released records outside , which can be recognised by the catalog#. Some known formats are:

The matrix number allows it to date a recording (the release date, however, can be much later):
It usually features a letter - (digit -) digit - letter combination (e.g. A15B or CA9W)
The first letter indicates the recording month (A to M)
The numbers indicate the recording day (1 to 31)
The last letter indicates the recording year (B to W).

The recording years start in 1924 with the letter B:
D = 1922; C = 1923; B = 1924; A = 1925; W = 1926.

The recording day is given with one or two numbers between 1 and 31.

The recording month starts with A for January and increases:
A = January; B = February; C = March; D = April; E = May; F = June; G = July; H = August; J = September; K = October; L = November; M = December.
The letter I was not used.

So, A15B indicates a track recorded on 15 January 1924, and C9W one recorded on 9 March 1926. This system was abandoned after 1926.

The other date code that appears on Homocord discs, starting with an A prefix, indicates the date when a new stamper was produced. That date can be far removed from the recording date, especially for popular records that were frequently repressed.
