I know a couple of shops, Bristol is just down the road from me.

Bang-Bang on Colston Street and Replay on Park Street. Both are well established, have been going for years. Should find a few goodies there.

If you take a wander round you should find some other places quite easily.

Enjoy, Bristol is a wicked city! : )

Yeah Athar mate. Had a peek at your profile and you should definitely check out Bang-Bang. They should have a good selection of tunes for you looking at the styles you're into.

Then again Chemical is prob your best bet. They've got loads of stuff from the styles you like. I don't think Bang-Bang stock much of the hard stuff anymore. Deffo check them out anyway.

I'm off to Brizzle this Friday, I'm not so interested in record stores selling purely new dance music as that generally means in this day & age of the internet that they don't have much stock and the chances they would have anything that I would want to buy are very slim. However, if they have vast amoutns of backcatalogue then that's better but tbh I would rather find a store that was almost purely secondhand with thousands of records across all genres. So - any more suggestions, please slap 'em up :-)

This post is probably a bit late but I suppose for future reference...

    Plastic Wax
    Cheltenham Road
    Bishopston
    0117-9427368

They used to have a couple of shops in Bristol although I'm not sure they still do although this one is still there, has been for years. Stocks 2nd hand stuff covering mostly Rock (Vinyl & CDs though they are also rarity and autograph specialists) although there is a really good (and large) 12" section where you can pick up (about) 5 12's for about a £10.00. If you dig deep enough you'll find a few whites/promos etc

    RePscho
    Gloucester Road
    Bishopston
    0117-983 0007

About 1/2 mile walk up the road from Plastic Wax. It's located in the cellar of a 60's clothing boutique, which smells of piss but don't let that put you off. They have a good selection of Funk/Hip-Hop/Breaks/Leftfield/Soundtrack kind of stuff (Vinyl)but they also have a selection of Housier type stuff. Bit over priced but friendly and knowledgeable.

    Rooted Records
    9 Gloucester Road
    Bishopston
    0117-9074372

If you have walked to RePsycho from Plastic Wax then you would have walked ed Rooted. All these 3 shops are about 1/2 mile apart and on the same side of the street. This is a cool shop with loads of Drum & Bass(local stuff)/Hip-Hop/Reggae/Breaks (Vinyl but a few Cd's)etc. Not sure when Rooted opened but it was within the last 5 years or so. They have done really well for themselves so check them out.

For any of the above 3 shops, travelling by car you need to get onto the A38. The shops are situated about 1 mile North of the City Centre/Broead shopping area. By bus travelling from the centre, hop on a number 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78 bus and ask for the Arches or Zetland Road. You'll get off either 50 yards before Plastic wax (just walk up under the Railway arch) or about 20 yards ed Rooted Records either way, you can't miss them.

    Chemical Records
    Unit C2
    St. Vincents Trading Estate
    Feeder road
    0117-9714924

This is a bit out of the way (about 2 1/2 miles East of the centre about a mile behind Temple Meads train station) but they have all the 'bells & whistles' as far as actually buying vinyl goes (virtual listening stations). They stock just about everything but everytime I went in there they would be blasting out 150bpm+ kind of stuff but have a pretty comprehensive choice if you can handle the noise. Also good for equipment, mailers etc

    Others

There are also a couple of Fopp's now (one on Park St and a new one by the old McDonalds in Broead) though last time I went in I don't recall seeing any vinyl although I could be wrong. CD selection is pretty good though and its easy to lift from if you don't like paying, not that I do (lift that is).

Heard a rumour that BangBang Records has now gone (have just checked and it did in fact close in August 06) but the owner, Mike Shawe, sells vinyl on Discogs so if you see his name anywhere on here, he's your (BangBang) man (nice chap by the way).

There are also a number of shops (mostly second-hand) around Bedminster in South Bristol (think Replay Records might still have an outlet down there).

Park St. may also have a couple of smaller record shops dotted about, most of the trendy clothes shops seem to have a mini-vinyl bar last time I was up there.

There's probably more but I can't be arsed to type anymore.
