Scandinavia's larges jazz record store (or that's what people tell me). Located near by where Lifesaver is located in the Five Corners in Punavuori district. Wide selection of some 30,000 items also ethnic music and such. New webpages are on their way.

Located near by Hakaniemi metro station. Wide selection of rock, metal and pop vinyl, but you can also find some disco, soul, and even dance vinyl as well. Also have CDs, mainly albums - new and old. For example, I've managed to find some old house and disco singles and even albums for one euro (or so) each.

The hiphop capital of Finland. The Funkiest has the the most wide catalog of new hiphop releases. Everything from old school to gangsta rap and from boom bap to the latests crunk hits. You can also find practicly any Finnish release from here.
Also soul/funk represses, second hand stuff, slipmats, t-shirts etc. available. A must for hiphop fans if you come to Helsinki. The store is located in the Kamppi district, pretty close to the Maaria -hospital, so almost any local knowns the area.

This is the other hiphop store in the town. Owned and run by Pasi Palonen, who is an old school hiphop figure in Finland. Kool Kat has a quite small collection of hiphop releases, mostly vinyl. They also have clothing, shoes, spray cans/markers, vidoes, magazines and DJ gear. The store is in the Punavuori -district, just a couple of blocks from Lifesaver, Eronen and others.

Green Grass records is a small record store right next to Kamppi. They have a wide variety of music, both CD and vinyl, both old and new. I recommend checking this out if you're in town.

Does Sähkö have a retail store of some sort, or just an office? (I didn't have an opportunity to check, the last time I was in Helsinki, since it was a long walk from downtown, even more so with 30ºC and the sun toasting me.)

I'd say that it's just an office. but drop them a mail and ask. but I must note that Sähkö records aren't that common in Finland. Lifesaver has some copies occationally.

btw, anyone of you Finnish guys what happened to that record store named Subside on Uudenmaankatu(IIRC), lotsa nice psy, punk, hardcore stuff.

Also, Kool Kat does not have a physical store anymore, they only do mail order I believe.

Seeking for techno I have visited:
1. Popparienkeli - Popangel. 4 boxes with vynil. All styles. Yes, a little bit disorganized :) Bought 0.
2. Lifesaver - a lot of house, r-n-b, juzz, some techno. Have found some second-hand brilliants. Most nostalgic place. Bought 3 relicts.
3. Stupido - a few techno discs, but a lot of other (pop-rock, r-n-b). Bought 0.
4. Levykauppa Äx - wow! it was most professional and interesting journey. A lot of good news and interesting represses. Bought a lot of stuff. Be carefull: Sähkö is in separate box! :)
