i recently walked past the cheap store and it looks like either it has ceased to exist or it's currently under renovation because the whole store is now a construction site.
also note that Teuchtler is open until 17:00 each first saturday of the month!
a few more to add to this rather complete list:
STRAIGHT RECORDS
is now closed down

MOSES-RECORDS !!NEW ADRESS!!
Lerchenfelderstrasse 33, A-1070 Wien
ein Besuch lohnt sich! Werde demnächst wieder alles durchblättern... -

I visited Teuchtler, Scout, Disoint, Moses, and Rave It Up this past weekend.
Teutchler was the best of the above: 2 euros a record for 12". Lots of italian, german, and british dance records
Scout was ok. I didn't take a good look at the LPs. Maxis ranged from 1-10 euros.
Disoint had almost zero maxis or EDM.
Moses had a bit of maxis, but they are in awful condition. really bad condition.
rave it up had no used records. it was also expensive compared to other stores selling the same records in europe (well, at least in the uk) -

Carla Nord, Steinheilgasse 21 district.
I'm not sure if all those records are still there because he said it was a flea market. Perhaps another resident can provide more information? -

a small update: BOUNCE RECORDS has closed a while ago.
i visited TONGUES today for the first time. a competent staff of genuine music enthusiasts, fair prices and a great selection with a good mix of old rarities & new releases make this one of the best places (together with MARKET) to buy electronic music in vienna. -

Hi guys
I'm from paris and going to Wien this weekend
What shop would you recommend for rarities and collectors
= > my main interests : pop-rock/psyche/prog/ UK Folk and kraut
Many thanks -
djmushroom edited over 13 years ago
since ton um ton records has closed a few years ago (the owner sadly died), buying this type of music at reasonable prices has become increasingly hard. i recommend you check out the second hand stores listed above (moses, teuchtler, sing sing, morrison, scout records...)
but don't expect any bargains there regarding the styles that you mentioned.
also every saturday there's a big flea market at U4 station kettenbrückengasse. it starts at 6 in the morning. i recommend you get there early. there are professional sellers but also different private ones. the latter sometimes offer interesting stuff for good prices.
good luck! -

Was at Sing Sing and Totem this week end, both alright, but really nothing special. Sing sing is indeed a tad to expensive for real diggers, and Totem is just the right colector prices. Don't hold your breath. -

Thread refresh : I just went to Vienna and here are some descriptions/personal opinions for the stores I visited.
You can find all the stores and their locations/opening hours here : http://www.vinylhub.com/record-stores/Vienna-Austria
Please note that I might have forgotten all the genres available in every store, because I visited so many of them. So take this with a grain of salt.
Black Monk Records Vienna, Austria
Very small shop (between the 2 rows of record crates you can fit just one person), with a selection of
jazz/rock/metal/punk/new wave/blues/indie/soul/funk/reggae
das LOKal Vienna, Austria
this is a combination of a small record store and a bar/terrace
mostly rock/funk/soundtracks/others
Das Market Vienna, Austria
This one was closed because of a summer vacation, but other stores recommended it for house/techno/electronica.
Deep Soul Records Vienna, Austria
I didn't go to this one personally but a friend visited the store and found very friendly staff and lots of jazz/ecm records and even got some bargains there.
Disc Point Vienna, Austria
small shop, rock/heavy rock/funk/soul/classical
Dynamic Recordstore Vienna, Austria
this is a combination of a clothing shop and a small record store, it specializes on harder electronica stuff : gabber/hard techno/trance (if I correctly) and others in this area
Fame Record Shop Vienna, Austria
This shop is located in the basement of a skateshop (enter and ask for directions because it's not d anywhere)
A kind of small but nice selection of house/techno/funk/soul/hip-hop and a few dollar-bins.
Scout Records Vienna, Austria
This a pretty big store and the main categories are rock/classical/funk/soul/austrian + german local records
My friends said they found some house/techno records lost in between the above categories and very low prices, but I couldn't find any when I visited the shop, but I didn't do too much digging there.
Sing Sing Records Vienna, Austria
This is a pretty big store with very friendly staff, you can find a bit of everything in it.
rock/heavy rock/funk/soul/classical/house/techno/harder-techno/soundtracks/others
The tip here is to have time and dig through the "unmarked boxes", you might find some nice stuff.
Substance Recordstore Vienna, Austria
Medium sized store, friendly staff, a large selection of house/techno/electronica but there are some funk/soul records as well (and maybe other genres).
Teuchtler Schallplatten und CD Antiquariat Vienna, Austria
This is a very big store with an impressive amount of music: vinyls/cds/shellacs and lots of 7"s
This store is an absolute tip if you're looking into classical/symphonica/modern classical but you will also find lots of funk/soul/rock and even some house/techno
Just ask the very friendly staff and they can tell you where to dig in the store.
Tongues Vienna, Austria
This one was closed because of a summer vacation, but other stores recommended it for house/techno/electronica.
Vienna digging is nice and rewarding :)
