*looks around* haven't posted here for a while, howdy folks.
I was having a look through some of the mixes on my computer and thought it was time to re-listen to this one but also have another stab at IDing some the tracks that are on it and thought that I may be able to enlist the help of the skilled ambient ears on this board.
I've had it up on my blog for a while (where it can be ed or streamed) and here is the incomplete tracklist that I've copied from there:
01. | 0:00:00 | DJ’s own field recordings
02. | 0:03:26 | Michael Brook – Pond Life
03. | 0:04:29 | Meat Beat Manifesto - Pot Sounds (sample on YouTube)
04. | 0:06:40 | Michael Brook – Mimosa
05. | 0:10:23 | Dave Angel - Patrice (sample on zshare)
06. | 0:15:52 | Fripp & Eno – The Heavenly Music Corporation (sample on YouTube)
07. | 0:22:56 | ? (sample on YouTube)
08. | 0:25:17 | ? (sample on YouTube)
09. | 0:31:06 | ? (sample on YouTube)
10. | 0:33:28 | sample on YouTube from a Horizon science documentary
11. | 0:38:10 | Jon Hassell - The Elephant And The Orchid
12. | 0:40:05 | DJ’s own field recordings
13. | 0:46:22 | ? (sample on YouTube)
14. | 0:49:41 | Brian Eno - Discreet Music (sample on YouTube)
15. | 0:53:40 | Dave Angel – Brother From Jazz
16. | 0:57:41 | ?
17. | 1:00:52 | Hole In One - N. Counter Of The 4th Kind
18. | 1:06:42 | sample on YouTube from a Horizon science documentary
19. | 1:08:49 | Michael Brook – Midday
20. | 1:14:14 | ? (sample on YouTube)
21. | 1:20:15 | Hypnopedia – Eclypse
22. | 1:23:39 | Brian Eno - Fullness Of The Wind (sample on YouTube)
23. | 1:29:00 | ? (sample on YouTube)
Track times are a bit loose as there's a lot field recordings and other samples weaved in and out of the tracks and it's not strictly all ambient either (there's a couple of fairly hard-edged trance type records melded in!) but for me, it still works as an 'ambient' mix however I am really familiar with it and have listened to it countless times. A kind soul IDed the track at 19 which was one of my favourites from this mix now the one I'd most like to ID is the classical piece with all the sad violins that comes straight after the Hypnopedia - Eclypse track. I'll cut out samples and put links to the snippets in the ID thread but for now, if you feel inclined please kick back and enjoy this mix that I purchased on cassette sometime around 1993 I reckon. Thanks in advance for any help with nailing this tracklist down. -

Thanks Barry - hope you enjoy the mix if nothing else :) -

Track 12 has got to be Jon Hassell - he's got his distinctive melodies and timbres, and that unmistakable trumpet.
Pretty sure that the track is "The Elephant And The Orchid" from Power Spot, but if it's not that, check his other 80's discs like Possible Musics, etc. -

Thanks for taking the time to listen; yes - that's nailed that one. It's pretty hazy with quite a few sound sources going on in the mix but I marked that down as track 11 but as I said, putting down track markers is a little difficult with a mix of this kind! -

Looks like the dj had the Guerilla comp Various - Narcosis - A Journey Through The Outs And Ins Of Underground to hand, as both the Dave Angel (track 15) and what I've now IDed as Hole In One - N. Counter Of The 4th Kind (track 17) are from it. -

Have a put a few snippets up here on the ID thread in this forum. -

Wasn't expecting to know any of these, but track 5 is Dave Angel's "Patrice". It's from the same EP as "Brother From Jazz" I think. One of my favourites by him. -

Doh! Of course, can totally place it now. Thanks. -

I can't ID that specific classical piece but I'd suggest you check out Gavin Bryars - The Sinking Of The Titanic if you want something very similar to that.

No worries - thanks to all for trying; will check out Gavin Bryars.
I was thinking about posting that classical piece in some more forums that are more classically inclined but just re-listening to it now, it's not purely classical as there is that electronic noise that repeats in the background and pans between the left and right sides, so perhaps definitely modern classical (?) or at least a composition from someone who was prepared to compose a piece for traditional instruments with augmentation from electronic sources. It's also being played from vinyl on this from what I can discern. For some reason it reminds me of Inspector Morse so perhaps I should check out stuff by Barrington Pheloung who composed the music for the TV series! -

Kicked the shite that is zshare into touch and mucked around for iMovie for the first time today and figured out how to all the samples to YouTube so updated the links above for anyone who couldn't be arsed to navigate zshare. Still, it's a lot of pallava though when really, just need an audio-only equivalent! -

Very perceptive - I've just been reading about the Eno album on Wikipedia and to do the Three Variations on the Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel which includes Fullness Of The Wind, they were performed by The Cockpit Ensemble which was conducted and co-arranged by... Gavin Bryers!
