Oh my god, this sounds so outdated! Some of the tracks sound like they were made with fasttracker or something similar. No echoes, no effects, no deepness, nothing. Most of the tracks lack dynamics and aren't that interesting. Only positive surprise was track no. 8 "Step Right On" which has at least some dynamics in it and decent enough stucture. But... yeah. Not worth it. Not at all. -
Disappointing album. The beats are weak, the melodies are insufficient and lackluster. For An Angel sounds so ugly here. I bought Seven Ways and imagined 45 RPM was even better. I was wrong for now. I will listen over and over to see if I am confused in my first impression

Edited 4 years agoLol. This is the original version from 1994 on MFS. The tracks are tagged incorrectly as if it was the Mute re-release. So this happened on Vandit Records? How can something like this even happen? Anyway, get the original MFS and Mute releases and ignore this uneeded wrongly tagged digital version. No mastering difference either.

its been almost 20 years since this album was released and it never sounds outdated. This is a lovely Album for a first release, with relaxing and melodic musics, there´s alot of romantism expressed in most of the musics, anyone that listens to this Album recognizes imediatly Paul Van Dyk style, it has unique sounds and melodys very typical from PVD. My favourite musics are: "Emergency" full of dynamic and with a clear message regarding emergency means and a lovely melody, "A magical Moment" wich has a romantic touch and a sweet voice as well as a beautiful melody, place me in a well decorated garden at night next to a beautifull girl and with this music as Ambient sound and i´ll be in pure heaven. "For na Angel" (98 mix) wich is definetly one of top 5 Paul Van Dyk musics, the music that made me fall in love with PVD sound. "for an Angel" has an excellent choice of clean sounds and a wonderful Melody. This Album will make you dream and dance, a release that one ought to listen.

For An Angel was given all the praise, released as a single with the E-werk club mix which updated the tune into a Words like structure. However, the real gem here is I'm comin' to take you away. It's got that punchy sound, and although the 909 floor and offbeat bass line aren't the core of the tune because there are filter envelopes and female vocal samples, typical of a lame club track, the intro that leads it in is quite effective. The track naming makes the album sound like a porn flick. Introjection sounds like penetration; Ejeculoutro sounds like ejaculation, but that's just me. Germans... -

I didn't really know what to expect from this album before listening to it, and afterwards, I wasn't impressed. Paul van Dyk never appealed to me as a talented producer, and although he managed many club hits later on, not much of his work seems to have that refined sound that good music usually has. His work on this release is fairly simple, with the expected goodies of For An Angel and 45 RPM, but the synths are reused often and there is not much of a flow to the tracks. Worth a listen to find out what Paul van Dyk was like long ago, but its barely worth a relisten.
